On about 100 pages, Gerd describes how God turns his life as an inconspicuous kiosk owner upside down. After his religious upbringing in a Catholic environment, as unfortunately happens with most children, fails (I dont mean that in a negative way, but is a tragic fact) and he first Once he turns away from the topic of God and Church; it is the encounter with Anna Z. and her children who, through their Christian charisma and authentic relationship with Jesus, let him suspect that there is a core behind all the ritualized religious practices, the it is to be discovered. His walk with God clearly shows that it is all about a deep personal relationship between two partners. Everything else is an accessory. No church, no saint no matter how heroically living and working miracles, no preacher no matter how charismatic can ultimately open the door to God for us, but only Jesus Christ. cf. John 10
It also shows the great opportunity that lies in the personal testimony of each one of us. Bringing this Jesus out from under the mountain of traditions that certainly fulfill their meaning and purpose still offers the possibility today of building and living a living relationship with God.
